In turn, the dealers entice new and existing customers with the variety of machinery available to complete ploughing, tiling and mowing to-do-list tasks and everything in between.

At last check, there were 115 different garden tractors available on the market. Each was different than the last in terms of shape, size and horse power. Garden tractors maintain horsepower in the 10 to 20 speed range. Accompanying price tags range from $1800 all the way up to $4000 or more per tractor. The price difference is determined by the number of bells and whistles a given garden tractor has.

By basic definition, a garden tractor is any self propelled piece of machinery that a user rides in order to complete a variety of lawn and garden tasks. The riding vehicle must maintain the ability to utilize attachment tools and pull a plow behind the vehicle as needed. This definition explains why the garden tractors are quickly rising in popularity.

Another reason cited for garden tractor popularity is the sheer size of single family dwellings in recent years. Back in the day, houses consisted of a small space where the residential dwelling was placed. Now that dwelling is often accompanied by a large parcel of surrounding land. This size presentation had been limited to commercial farm land. With the increase in dwelling size came the need for a larger piece of lawn equipment to handle the capacity. A garden tractor is ideal for this setting.

Going hand in hand with this reasoning is the home owner. More equity can be obtained from a home that receives aesthetic maintenance as well as regular maintenance. Having a garden tractor allows for the meticulous upkeep of a massive lawn and garden area which leads to higher equity returns.

Once the regular spring and summer lawn and garden maintenance season is complete, the tractor can be used to collect and bag leaves in the fall.
